Linux

Linux is an operating system, like Windows XP or Mac OS.

Most versions of linux are free, and can be downloaded from the internet. It takes a little bit of training to use, but once you start using it, you will be happy you made the change.

There are many different versions of Linux, click here to see.

My personal favorite is Ubuntu. Not because it is better than the other versions, I just like it better. Make your own decision, but give it a try. You can run most versions right from the cd without having to install it first.

Go to the Ubuntu website and check it out.

I have recently started to get involved with the Linux Operating system.

Now that Microsoft is so strict with it's licensing, it is hard to reuse a license for a new user.

In order to continue to  provide free computers to people, I have found it necessary to find an alternative.

Ubuntu is a free version of Linux that comes with all of the important applications. Free disks and downloads are available at  Ubuntu.com.

Other free Linux software is available here and  here. More sites will be added later. Suggestions are welcome.

If you want to try Linux with a windows look and feel try Freespire.
